On Luvi AI you create an AI character in two steps: who they are, then how they are. Choose a name, an age, a realistic or illustrated look and a portrait, generated from your description or picked from the library; then their traits, their personality and the scene where you first meet. Luvi writes their first message in their own voice, and the conversation starts there. Creating a character is free.
Step one: their identity
- A name, and an age between 18 and 100.
- A style: realistic, like a photograph, or illustrated, a little more imagined.
- A portrait. Pick one from the library, or generate one from a description of the person you see. A reference photo can guide the generation, as long as it shows an adult you have permission to use.
Step two: their personality
- Up to four traits from a short list: caring, playful, dreamy, spontaneous, reserved, creative, mysterious, sunny.
- Their personality in your own words: passions, humor, little contradictions. Up to 1,500 characters.
- Your first meeting, in a sentence or two. Luvi writes their opening line from it, in their voice, instead of a form letter.
Private or shared
A character is private by default: they stay in your space and nobody else sees them. A signed-in member can share one, and every member can then meet them from Discover; you can make them private again at any time. Shared characters are not reviewed before they appear, and several reports take one out of the catalog while it is looked at.
More portraits, and a moving one
From a private character’s profile you can generate up to four more portraits from the one you chose, so the face stays theirs. You can also animate the portrait into a short silent loop, the one that plays when a card is hovered. Both cost credits like any picture.
You, in the story
Your persona is the other half: a name, a description, up to four photos of yourself and, if you like, your recorded voice. With a persona, you can appear in the photos a character sends and your messages can be played in your own voice. Photos are compressed and stored privately; the voice sample is sent only after you confirm it is your own.
The rules
- Characters are adults. Nothing may depict a minor.
- No sexualizing a real, identifiable person, and no photo of someone else without their permission.
- Nothing illegal where you are, and no non-consensual acts. Breaking these rules ends your access.
Questions, answered
Is creating a character free?
Yes. Creating a character costs nothing. A generated portrait, an extra photo or an animated portrait costs credits like any picture, and talking with them costs 1 credit per reply after your two free ones.
Can other people meet my character?
Only if you share them. A character is private by default; a signed-in member can share one with every member from its profile, and make it private again at any time.
Can I use a photo of a real person?
Only an adult whose permission you have, and never to sexualize a real, identifiable person. Reference photos are used to guide a portrait, not published.
Can my character have a voice?
Yes. A character you create receives a designed voice the first time you listen to one of their replies, and keeps it.
Who can use Luvi AI?
Adults only. You must be 18 or older, and every character is a consenting fictional adult.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Luvi AI runs in any modern browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer. You sign in with a code sent to your email; there is no password to remember.
